Patrick Ekeng: matches postponed and inquiry into death launched

The Romanian Football Federation (FRF) has delayed all soccer matches this weekend following the death of Dinamo Bucharest’s Apostle Ekeng on Fri, with local media news that associate investigation had been launched.

Dinamo Bucharest’s Patrick Ekeng dies when collapsing on pitch

The 26-year-old Cameroon midfielder collapsed on the field when suffering a suspected heart failure shortly when imminent as a 62nd-minute substitute throughout a league match against Viitorul Constanta and was pronounced dead 2 hours later.

Police have started an inquiry into Ekeng’s death, while hospital officers claimed that he had not received adequate 1st aid treatment at the bottom, which was denied by the club’s doctor.

The Fifa president Gianni Infantino said: “I’m incredibly unhappy to learn of the passing of Cameroonian Apostle Ekeng. At moments like this, words seem poor. Messages I’ve read on-line from team-mates, his club in Romania, and former teams, show just however extremely Apostle was regarded.
